The tech industry has long marginalized people of the African Diaspora, favoring white and Asian men in hiring, promotions, and compensation. Since 2014, major tech companies have made promises to diversify, but progress remains painfully slow. We're done waiting. We're building our own path forward.
THE TECH INDUSTRY WASN'T BUILT FOR US
Big tech has consistently overlooked Black and Brown talent—and women—when it comes to hiring, advancement, and equitable pay. This exclusion isn't new; it's been embedded in the industry's DNA since its inception.
It wasn’t until 2014 that several influential tech companies started to acknowledge the lack of diversity on their staff and vowed to change this in the future. They promised change and began releasing annual diversity reports to track their progress.
The results? Underwhelming.
In the years since, most of these companies have failed to deliver meaningful inclusion. While there's been incremental progress, it's moving at a glacial pace—and our communities can't afford to wait any longer.
